Major success for STAR-APIC customers at AGI annual awards
STAR-APIC customers Northumbrian Water (NWL) and Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Northern Ireland (DARD) won prestigious awards for Innovation and Best Practice at the Association of Geographic Information (AGI) annual awards event.
Northumbrian Water were recognised in the Private Sector category for their Operational Planning and Management (OPM) application which helps the company deal with the impact of planned and unplanned water supply events. OPM was described as an excellent example of a GI project delivering clear business benefits, improving access to information, resulting in better decision making and better service to customers.
DARD won the Central Government Award for the Northern Ireland Countryside Management Scheme (NICMS) administration system. NICMS is a 7-year, £220 million agri-environment scheme designed to help farmers and landowners and improve the environment. DARD are required to implement, manage, and monitor the scheme and have successfully developed a paperless, integrated workflow and GIS solution to simplify management for both farmers and DARD staff. The system has achieved 20% efficiency savings in administration.
